Faith and Reason

Some of us know what it's like when that moment seizes us
When the question of doubt knocks our faith to the ground and leaves us for dead
When all we've been taught in a moment we're not so sure we trust
Faith is a stone, but it breaks like a bone if it's not from the heart and just in head

We all need, we all need a reason, a reason to believe
We need a faith that won't break beneath the weight of uncertainty
Faith without facts is dead religion, but facts without faith is science fiction
So give me a humble faith, and give me an honest reason
I don't want to choose between them

Whoever said life was easy, they lied!
You can’t just run away and try to say you tried
I'm beginning to believe these are the moments that define our lives
Some people quit 'cause they're not ready for the risk
Others don't care, they just want to co-exist
But some keep pressing on till they discover who the real God is

Where facts and faith abide; we need not choose a side
Our souls need both to come alive
There is no contradiction between science and religion
We're searching for a God who is beyond our vision

Do not be afraid when you no longer feel
Feelings will come again when the light is revealed
Thoughts must be challenged to prove that they’re real
Faith that's never broken is a faith that's never healed
