The Future, Tonight

Summer dreams can be bittersweet
And the daylight seems to last forever
When all you need is a place to hide away

All these dark thoughts and fractured scenes
Are a shadow play that makes me restless
Time goes by as I wait for judgement day

Thunder, lights and wind and rain
Are all it takes to keep me burning
One more shot to keep me sane
The dawn escapes, the roads keep turning

Silence in a crowded room
Took the hits without complaining
Rather me than all of you
Another red light burning in my brain

Silent screaming
I’ve come up for air
And as I stop to catch my breath
I see you standing there
Your light’s still shining
But the darkness steals the brightest stars
And the shadows on our souls
Conceal the darkest scars
