There's a man on a street
With a wide stance and a gun
He's wearing a face mask and I ask
If he has an extra one?

He says not for today
Now, please, step back 6ft away
I wish he'd ask me how I was doing
I wish I could say okay

But even the cobbles are lonely today
The city that never sleeps is sleeping

I saw a magpie out my window
I thought 'bad lucky'
And then another came along

I discard my superstitions
When they don't work out my way
I'm decidedly blue
And blue is how I will stay

Until the streets are filled with people
Who hug and touch and say hello

Is a fear we already know

Just bone breaks and cancer
